| Our History Mu Phi Epsilon was founded in 1903 at the Metropolitan College of Music in Cincinatti, Ohio. The founders were Elizabeth Mathias Fuqua and Winthrop S. Sterling. There are currently 136 collegiate chapters in the United States and beyond and 74 Alumni Chapters. There are more than 75,000 members. The Triangle of Mu Phi Epsilon represents Music, Friendship and Harmony. Our Aims: The advancement of music in the community, in the nation, and in the world through the promotion of musicianship, scholarship, and music education, with an emphasis on service through music. Our Purpose: The recognition of scholarship and musicianship, and the development of a bond of friendship among its members. Music: To promote music within the fraternity, there is a Mu Phi Epsilon recital once a semester as well as a Musicale once a month where members play for other members. Friendship: Social events are planned throughout the year to promote friendship and bonding among the members of the chapter. These events have various themes and various activities involved with them. Harmony: Harmony is promoted through service. Each month of the school year has at least one service event corresponding to it. The service events range from a fundraiser to send a kid to camp, to a Swing Dance to raise money for Eastern Guilford. Being involved and associated with the community is a huge help with these endeavors. |
